For whatever reason, I've had this song stuck in my head for several days now.
Dolly's voice is so pure and effortless. So nice.
The story is that there really was a "Jolene" who was a bank teller with whom her husband was mildly infatuated.
Oh, and The White Stripes have a pretty cool version of this song, too.
LOOOOOOOVE this song. A girl redid it on The Voice this season and it rocked. Such a powerful song. Great choice :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been a Dolly Parton fan...with the exception of this one song. I've loved Jolene from the time I first heard it. There's just such...desperation there. It's beautiful and pathetic, all at once.
